I’m at the musical show and I call you. I request your presence and ask you ‘to take’ or ‘to bring’ a date? -It depends. Do I think that you will only be coming out of courtesy or am I pretty sure you can’t wait to hear my performance? How you feel about hearing The Vixen sing at the concert decides because both are correct. If you really want to hear and I know this then I would guess your mind is already on its way to the concert so I would say ‘bring’ –cause to come. If, on the other hand, I knew you hated my singing performances, I would guess you’d prefer to stay home. Your mind doesn’t want to leave home –the starting location –so ‘take’ as you hesitatingly ‘go’ from home works. Thanks!

What’s the difference between the verbs to take and to bring?

-The speaker's location indicates which to use. If I request your presence along with a book, I ask you ‘to bring’ it. From your perspective, you ‘take’ it with you to me by my request.
My location itself is the point of destination so, I am asking you to cause it to come to me -the speaker:
'Come over here and bring your textbook with you' If there was still another, third location where I would want you to deposit the book, I would say: Take the book -cause it to go away to a place other than yours or mine. See why they don't match? Now,
'Take (the above quotations) into account' -This is an idiom and it doesn't follow the rules. What does ‘to take into account’ mean?
