The tip of your tongue is retracted –it’s up high on your ‘Alveolar Ridge’ as is a vowel sounded before an L:Police or
-
You put it on the forward march so it’s against the back of the teeth. Now, the root of the tongue –the soft palate or velum is approaching as is a vowel sounded after an L:Play.
